THE EXORCIST
With The Exorcist premiering in 1973, it has claimed to be
the scariest demonic film to this day. People claimed to have fainted and
vomited in the aisles during the viewing of this movie in theaters. Some
conspiracy theories say that this movie is cursed. This movie has been taken to
extreme measures, such as death. But what the big deal and theory on this
movie?
In the making, filming or finishing of the making of this
movie, real life deaths were closely connected by this demonic film. Actor Jack
MacGowran and actress Vasiliki Maliaros both died shortly after the film was
finished. With MacGowran dying from the flu, and Maliaros dying from natural
causes. Linda Blair’s grandfather, (linda the main character) actor Max Von
Sydow’s brother died during production, and the son of Mercedes McCambridge who
was the voice of the demon, murdered his wife and two daughters before taking
his own life after being accused of fraud in November of 1987. All these people
associated with the movie died violently, mysteriously, or during the making of
this movie.
Linda Blair being the main character, received death
threats. Death threats so bad that Warner Bros hired police bodyguards to live
with the Blair family and follow them everywhere they went 24/7 for six months
after the film premiered.
This story of a girl being possessed by a demon instilled
terror in the audience. Taking on the subject of demonic possession and very controversial
Catholic ritual turned a few heads. After these strange catastrophic occurrences,
many became convinced that the film set and the movie itself was cured by a
demon.
So what’s the big theory on this movie? Is it really cursed?
The deaths being on set and after the film seemed a bit fishy didn’t it? So many
people think it cursed, or is it?
