Jefferson County and the Brooks Brown Cover Up
Did the Jefferson county police really cover up the Columbine shooters? After just two years since the shooting happened, there was documentation that had been released stating that police investigated the two shooters, Dylan Klebold and Eric Harris, just one year before the shooting happened. Brooks Brown's mother, Judy Brown had told the press that if the sheriff's department had looked into the case further, then maybe the massacre could have been prevented. There were signs of danger when Klebold had written an angry essay for his English class and also posed threats on social media towards Brooks Brown and other classmates. When the documents from the investigation had been released, there were reports that some documents may have been missing to hide more insight on what really happened that day. Sheriff John Stone of the Jefferson County Police Department has declined to comment whenever probed to answering these suspicious questions. Parents and other citizens are curious as to why there was never an investigation on the two men when there were suspicious actions taken. There were reports of bombs and bomb-making materials at the Harris household which the police department seemed to oversee. According to Alan Prendergast from Westward News, after just five years a key witness provided evidence that was brought to the court’s attention which confirmed that the Jefferson County Police Department knew something about what really happened that day of the Columbine shooting but did not speak up about it. They knew more about what really happened but denied the fact that they did. There claimed to be a large shredding of documents of that day which have yet to be uncovered. Witnesses believe that the police were trying to cover up the act to save their jobs. Shortly after discovering this mystery, news rang out that prior to the year of the shooting, the Klebold and Harris had been arrested for burglary and participated in a juvenile diversion program run by the district attorney. The most intriguing witness report was filed from Randy and Judy Brown who had a son named Brooks that went to school with the two men. They filed a claim against Harris that stated he was talking on his website about blowing up pipe bombs and threatened to kill their son Brooks, who did not die in the attack. Mike Guerra, a bomb investigator, had looked into the case and had drafted an affidavit for a warrant of Harris’s home. The warrant was never sent to a judge, however, and was told by a supervisor Lieutenant John Kiekbusch, that he did not have enough evidence to proceed with the search. Furthermore, Kate Battan, an investigator, furthered Guerra’s search by posing a search warrant on the Harris household but the documents from this investigation were supposedly sealed in the court and not released until years after the shooting. After many beliefs and eye witness reports, were the police really hiding documents from this day? To be continued in the next blog post!
