Trump's Release of JFK Records

Recently President Donald Trump released almost 3,000 previously secret documents to the public over John F. Kennedy’s assassination. Trump told his officials that the American public not only expects, but deserves, to have a look at the records so that people are fully informed on this impactful event in American history. Although there were thousands of records released, hundreds are still under review by US agencies in order to determine if they should be released based on national security laws.

In particular, there is one file that suggested Lee Harvey Oswald was possibly a CIA agent but the document is cut short and abruptly that misses the response from the government. This is just yet another conspiracy theory that is brought to the people due to the fact that Kennedy was killed and Oswald was killed minutes after he was arrested which leaves the assassination a huge mystery and no one to tell any side of the story.

A known historian and writer, Gerald Posner, was interviewed by CNN and he states on record that no matter what shows up in the files, it will not necessarily add to the conspiracy theories, prove or even disprove any of them. Posner believes that other than the increased detail that people will receive, the only other thing that will come with releasing the files is to show how the CIA and FBI covered the evidence repeatedly. This will just cause more mistrust in the government because people will realize that if they can cover up such a pivotal point in history, what else are they hiding?

  1. I do like how you included the mistrust part of our own government. It does raise speculation to why the government won't release everything to the public. Overall though, I believe there is a much bigger plot running behind the scenes that the government is keeping secret.

  2. I really enjoyed how you included such a recent topic. I completely believe that it does raise some red flags that the government is negating to release topics. How you mention that there is file that could reveal Oswald could potentially of been a member of the CIA is very interesting. I agree with Trump, I think that the American people deserve to know exactly what happened to such a beloved president. I wonder will these questions ever be answered?
