Robert F. Kennedy Assassination
Even on the night
of his death, Senator Robert Kennedy put the wellbeing of others before
himself. After shots were fired and chaos was provoked he was whispering to the
people caring for him asking if everyone was okay.
Working through a
successful political campaign that made him appear to fill the shoes of his
brother, Robert Kennedy addressed the people of Los Angeles in front of the
Ambassador Hotel on June 5, 1968, after winning the California primaries in the
Presidential race. Following the commencement of his speech, the plan was for him
to go through the crowd and address the public but he was then directed to go
through the hotel kitchen and talk to the staff. At this time Sirhan Sirhan
appeared and shot Kennedy 3 times. He died later that evening from his
injuries.
Now some elements
play into a possible conspiracy surrounding his death. According to his
autopsy, it is said that the fatal gunshot wound was inflicted from the back of
him when his killer shot at him from the front. This leads people to believe
that Sirhan Sirhan was not alone in the plan to kill Robert Kennedy like he was
perceived to be. Sirhan fired 6 shots. 3 of which hit Kennedy but bullet holes
were found at the crime scene that would suggest that more shots were fired
than what Sirhan’s 8 round revolver could hold.
Another
conspiracy is credited to the gunman himself. He makes a claim that he was
hypnotized into completing this assassination and does not remember any part of
the shooting. He was allegedly lured into a dark place, choked by a mob and it
has been proven by psychiatrists that he was in a trance during the attack on
Kennedy’s life.
Research done by
historians suggests that 3 CIA operatives were the masterminds behind his
death. The head of the beast being David Sanchez Morales.
He played a key role in covert operations for the CIA
and built a reputation of trouble followed when he was around. He was quoted in
1973 among friends in reference to Robert Kennedy saying, “I was in Dallas when
we got the son of a bitch and I was in Los Angeles when we got the little
bastard.” This links him to at least the locations of both assassinations and
the tone of his comments can imply that he had a part in both of the Kennedy
brother’s deaths. Footage from the night of Robert Kennedy’s assassination has
been gone through with a fine-tooth comb and it Morales did show himself in the
news coverage. He is seen in the back of the ballroom of the hotel just before Robert
Kennedy finished his speech and then after the shooting occurred he is found in
that same spot half an hour later loitering suspiciously. Being a member of the
CIA, he very likely could have had the power to move Kennedy to go through the
hotel kitchen that would be the location of his tragedy. Either way, it appears
that the route that was set up for him was not by mistake.

There is no
concrete answer for the motive and actual mind behind the death of Robert
Kennedy and that’s why conspiracy theories are so easy to draw from this
situation. So, I leave it open for discussion. Do you think Sirhan Sirhan had a
more likely motive to kill Kennedy or was he just a pawn for the CIA’s dirty
work?
