THE CONJURING

THE CONJURING 2

The Conjuring 2 must be one of the most dreadful, scary, demonic horrifying films ever. With Margaret and Janet being the main characters. Their house in London was considered the “house of strange happenings” (Guglelmi, 2016). This case involving flying objects, strange voices, furniture being moved throughout the house, People’s Movies claims that, “it’s considered to be one of the most witnessed cases of supernatural activity to this day” (Guglelmi, 2016). While this Enfield Poltergeist was at it’s all time scariest, other people claim it’s a hoax for publicity. But have those people had the curtains by their bed strangled on their neck and almost choked to death? More than likely not.

In London of 1977 Peggy Hodgson was a single mother with four children. Her oldest girls Margaret and Janet were upstairs being loud when their mom came upstairs to quite them down. Now in the movie, the girls were caught by their mom playing with a Ouija board that was later found under their bed. Is this a clue made by the director to not play with a Ouija board and lift demonic spirits? In real life, the girls were already being haunted and had encountered supernatural events.

In a different situation with people thinking it was a hoax, there is a picture of Janet jumping in the air, screaming off the top of her lungs. Could this be a publicity stunt for the family to later be posted in the newspaper? In an episode of Janet in the movie, she was caught bending spoons, throwing plates, and creating havoc in the kitchen. Janet was later confronted by the person who filmed her and accused them of doing this as a publicity stunt.

Is any of this true? Is the director dropping clues on not experimenting with Ouija boards or demonic rituals? Is he preventing people from making publicity stunts?

  1. Why do you think that the director changed the facts so much? Especially because in the beginning of the movie it says based on a true story. What about other movies that say based on a true story, are the facts altered in those as well? This post was interesting because I always thought that the movie was strictly following the facts of the story in real life.
