Beyond the OKC bombing

A  militia group out of Northern Michigan known as the Michigan Militia was the main scapegoat in the bombing of a Federal Building in Oklahoma City on April 19, 1995. All fingers pointed to the militia group after it came out that the main suspects and eventual culprits attended several of the groups meetings. Terry Nichols and Timothy McVeigh were the evil minds behind the bombing.

The leaders of the Michigan Militia disagreed with officials about the identity of the bomber, and offered up their own theory. The groups commander Norman Olson and also the chief of staff, Ray Southwell announced that they believe the Japanese bombed the building. The motive: retaliation for the recent nerve gas attack on the Tokyo subways, which Olson and Southwell said was engineered by the American government.

The Michigan Militia soon disbanded into smaller "brigades" mostly in part to the backlash recieved about the OKC bombing. The once 10,000 member militia was no more.

Here you can watch and learn some key information about the militia and there is also an interview with the founder Norman Olson. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ky49ltgeXRU&t=95s
