“The boy who held open the doors”. Daniel literally held open the doors for his classmates to run out of the building when Eric and Dylan started shooting at Columbine High School. Daniel was said to be walking out of the cafeteria with a few friends that morning while he let people pass through the doors, there was no chance after that. He took shots to the abdomen and left leg and then moments later shot point-blank in the chest. Daniel was left lying there and bled to death from the fatal shots. Due to the kind gesture of holding open the door for frantic people running, Daniel lost his life April 20, 1999. After his death, there was several conspiracies to who all shot Daniel and who fired the fatal shot. There was talk during the police investigation that Daniel may have been killed from SWAT crossfire. This turned out not to be true, the fatal shot either came from Dylan or Eric.
